Privacy Policy

The Dictantor app does not require an account and does not collect personal information.

The app does not collect:

• Your name • Email address • Location • Contacts • In-app usage analytics • Advertising identifiers

If you contact us for support, we receive the email address you use and the contents of your message.

We use support communications only to respond to your request and help resolve issues with Dictantor.

Audio recordings, transcripts, summaries, generated titles, and related metadata are stored locally on the iPhone or Mac where they are created or imported.

When you record with the Dictantor Apple Watch app, the recording is stored temporarily on your paired Apple Watch and transferred directly to your iPhone using Apple’s system services.

Pending recordings remain on your Apple Watch so the transfer can resume when your iPhone becomes available. After an import is confirmed, the local Watch copy is removed.

On Mac, Dictantor records microphone and system audio only after you grant the required permissions and start a recording. System audio may include voices and sounds played by other applications during a meeting.

Dictantor does not upload your content to servers operated by Dictantor and does not provide us with access to your recordings.

Dictantor uses Apple’s iCloud Documents service to keep your library available between iPhone and Mac devices signed in to the same Apple Account with iCloud Drive enabled.

Synced packages may include audio files, separate microphone and system-audio tracks created on Mac, transcripts, titles, timestamps, durations, transcription status, and metadata needed to synchronize changes and deletions.

This content is stored in your private Dictantor iCloud container and transferred by Apple’s iCloud service. Dictantor does not operate a synchronization server or receive this content.

Synchronization depends on your iCloud settings, network connection, available iCloud storage, and Apple’s service availability, so changes may not appear immediately on every device.

Apple Watch recordings first transfer to the paired iPhone. After import, they may be synchronized to Mac through iCloud like other recordings.

Recording is performed on the device where you start it. Recordings made on Apple Watch are transferred to your paired iPhone, where transcription and other processing take place.

Transcription, search, automatic titles, and supported AI features are processed directly on your iPhone or Mac. Dictantor does not use a cloud AI service to process your recordings or transcripts.

Some AI features are available only on devices that support Apple Intelligence.

Dictantor may request access to:

• Microphone — used to record audio on iPhone, Apple Watch, or Mac, depending on where you start the recording. • System Audio Recording on Mac — used to capture audio played by your Mac when you start a meeting recording. • Calendar on Mac — optionally used on-device to identify upcoming online meetings and schedule reminders. Dictantor does not upload your calendar content. • Notifications — used to provide local recording, meeting, and transcription updates.

You can revoke these permissions at any time in your device’s system settings, although the related features may stop working.

Dictantor may use local notifications to let you know when transcription has finished.

These notifications are generated on your device. Dictantor does not send push notification tokens to our servers.

You can revoke notification permission at any time in the system settings on your iPhone or Mac.

Your data is stored locally on your devices and, when iCloud sync is available, in your private Dictantor iCloud container. A recording made on Apple Watch may also remain temporarily on the Watch while it is pending transfer.

Deleting a recording removes its associated audio, transcript, summary, and metadata from the current device and propagates the deletion to other synced devices through iCloud. This may take time if another device is offline or iCloud is unavailable.

Removing Dictantor from one device does not necessarily remove content already stored in iCloud or on your other devices.

The current version of the Dictantor app does not use third-party analytics, advertising, tracking, or cloud AI services.

Dictantor uses Apple’s iCloud service only for private synchronization between your devices. Apple’s handling of iCloud data is governed by your agreement with Apple and Apple’s privacy policies.

If future versions introduce optional cloud-based AI features, this Privacy Policy will be updated before those features become available.

The Dictantor website uses Vercel Web Analytics to understand aggregate visits and page views. This website analytics is separate from the Dictantor app.

Vercel Web Analytics collects anonymized usage information and does not use cookies. We use this information only to understand and improve the website.

Dictantor is not intended for children under the age of 13.

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any changes will be published on this page.
